Not for the faint of heart

Disclaimer: I made these pictures small so that you won't see the following injury in all of it's glory if you don't want to. Don't keep reading if you can't stand the sight of blood or a fat lip.

Ethan fell off a chair - face first. I think he landed on the wood floor with his mouth and chin breaking his fall. Sadly, I think he lost his balance when he saw me give him the Tracy Flick look (when she gets mad, stares, and the Navajo Joe screaming music plays) while I was on the phone with Gaggy and noticed that he was standing on a chair. He scrambled to get out of my reach as I approached him to take him off the chair, but he fell. :-( Randy heard the fall, my "OH NO!" response, and I hung up.

I think my response improves with each injury. I'm prone to freak out and freeze; however, when you're the go to person in these situations, you have to act like the adult.

If this injury was bound to happen, I couldn't have planned it better, though. My friend, Vickie, was on her way here to pick up something. Vickie works in an orthodontist's office! She was happy to take a look and offer a second opinion on the possibility of an urgent care visit. We determined that there are no loose teeth, the bleeding had stopped, and that the cut wasn't big enough to require stitches.

Ethan's favorite part: spitting in the sink and playing with ice cubes while he was recovering. Now he's asking for orange juice, bless his heart. He just doesn't understand when I explain that it will hurt his boo-boo.

Oh, and speaking of Tracy Flick, I wish I had found this when it was more timely. Nevertheless, it's still really great!
