The fair, the fair, the unforgettable fair

The State Fair has a snappy slogan and jingle each year. This year it was:

Yes, indeed, that's a whole lotta happy in front of that sign! The children's memories amaze me. They remembered the fair from last year, and were super excited about it. I'll have to remember to use it as an incentive next year for more than just the day of our outing. (i.e. "You better take good naps, or we won't be able to go to the fair.") Rookie mistake. It's good when those little sponge-brains work to our advantage, unlike the memory of last year's flu shot. ("I'm not brave! I don't want a flu shot!")

Ellie, who will now be known as "stomach of steel," fears no ride. She is very sensitive to loud noises (public toilet flushes, trains, leaf blower, etc.); however, had no problem with the Silver Streak with it's fast spinning and blasting hip-hop. Ethan, on the other hand, . . .

The children talked about the merry-go-round all day before we arrived at the fair, as it was a favorite last year.

"He's slipping!"

"I'm still a little pouty 'cause my Mommy let go of me to take a picture."

Full recovery.

Several highlights were:
1) the children's excitement
2) Loyda's reaction to her first fair visit ever - "It's craaaazy!" - and first taste of cotton candy
3) running into sweet friends while in line for the merry-go-round

then joining them for pony rides! Yes, out of tens of thousands of people, we got in line right behind our friends!

Great time! Great weather! Great memories!

Sing with me!

Way down inside, you need. . .

chocolate covered bacon?

I can't imagine the fun it must be to introduce Loyda to all of these "firsts" and seeing these things through her eyes. What a wonderful family outing!

How fun! I love your pictures. I totally agree with Janet..getting to see Loyda experience all these firsts..such a blessing. (and your babies are just precious!)

So fun to think of L's first taste of Cotton Candy.

Cotton Candy is one of my favorite things!

I'm not a big fan of pork products, but I might have given chocolate covered bacon a thought....just to say I'd tried some, but then again, maybe not. ;) Did you try it?

The kids look so sweet on the Merry Go Round. What a great day!
