Let's Cook Playdough!

The children were intrigued by the idea of making their own playdough. Ours has become a little crumbly, so we decided to DIY.

I didn't have any food coloring or kool aid on hand, so I dumped some cinnamon into the mixture at Heather's suggestion.

Success! It works! Except for continuing to catch Ethan licking it, this was a great experiment!

The recipe we used was thoughtfully included in our preschool orientation package.
Play Dough
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 tsp cream of tartar
2 Tbs cooking oil
2 cups water
Food coloring
Mix and cook slowly until stiff enough to handle. Add food coloring. Turn onto wax paper and knead. Keep in air-tight container or zip lock bag.

I made my own playdough once. But when the kids started mixing the colors together I got the heebie jeebies.

We made this same playdough for Bailey's class except we made peppermint playdough. It made our kitchen smell good.
