After careful consideration, we decided to replace my second-hand 15+ year old basement futon with a pair of Ektorp sofas from IKEA.

Despite meticulous tarp-wrapping, the cargo couldn't handle 1 1/2 hours of varying degrees of downpour.

I'm pleased to report that the small amount of moisture dried overnight with no permanent damage,

and that we have dramatically improved the seating capacity and comfort of the basement den! The best part? The slipcover color we chose, Idemo beige, has been discontinued. Each sofa slipcover was $19!!
