Thursday was so calm and relaxing compared to the previous days. (actual quote: "Mommy, I'm a special boy because I don't need to rest, but I keep having energy!!") Most days it feels like the children pepper me with questions and requests non-stop, so it's a breath of fresh air when we have a day that includes some independent play and productive time for me.
We began the day with dental appointments, and the children were eager to show off the fruits of their diligent brushing. . . until we got to the parking lot. Ethan asked before we got out of the car, "Can we pray for Sissy to be brave?" When we got inside, the children saw the chair and froze in place. They had agreed earlier that Ethan would go first (and that I would sit beside Ellie and hold her hand when it was her turn), but he decided that he didn't want to go first. With some coaxing, he changed his mind and hopped into the chair, as the hygenist explained to me that we may need to add ingested fluoride to the children's diet since our large, mysterious, basement reverse osmosis water treatment system removes all of it.
I don't really remember much about the cleaning, since someone needed to make multiple potty trips while Ethan was in the chair. Maybe it was because the prize box is en route to the bathroom? Then, Ellie requested cherry-flavored polish, and bravely took her place.

After lunch and working on the baby's room, the children went for a swim.
Mom's night out, or preschool orientation, was next, where parents squeezed into a tiny room listening to what I hope were nervous giggles and high-pitched laughter from the teacher as she used exaggerated baby talk with a child and demonstrated the 5 second rule with a runaway M&M.
Meanwhile, back at home: "Mommy, we played 'putt' in the house on the carpet, and I made a hole-in-one!"
Great day all around.
