Best birthday ever!

As I've mentioned, Grandma kindly agreed to keep the children over the weekend of my birthday. Here's a rundown of some of our free time.

What a beautiful start to the day Saturday! Happy birthday to me!

Awwww! Randy found a card with a crocheted cupcake on the front! How cute! He knows I love the needle arts.

I was able to take time to notice beautiful things,

educational things,

thought-provoking things,

(what is spritual art?)

and newsworthy things.

(Melissa, let's discuss!)

I am confused by the wording of the Andrew Johnson sign, though. Does it mean the kitchen moved? How? I have so many questions. I guess I'll have to consult my "magic box," as Randy likes to call my laptop. By the way, I've lived near the Andrew Jackson birthplace, too. Weird!

We had a wonderful, leisurely Italian lunch. It felt like we were on vacation! No schedule, no high chairs, no throwing food. Ahhhhh!

Randy takes me to the nicest places. We did some shopping here. (Don't be worried, we shopped down the row from the unsafe building!)

If I'm queen for a weekend, . . .

Our day on the town ended with a wonderful meal at Tasca Brava, a Spanish restaurant. I wanted to go somewhere nice, but not too stuffy. This place fit the bill! Everything we tasted was fantastic, so I'm eager to go back. The owner came out to talk to us for a while. He is very passionate about food. Paella is on the agenda for our next visit.
