I can't drive 55

No, I really can't drive 55. At least I don't know if I'm driving 55.

As we were racing around on Sunday, I announced with alarm, "Slow down! You're going 90!" Now, I doubt that it was an accurate reading because

not long after that, Randy noticed that we had a speedometer situation. Yeah, it's in park with the emergency brake on. Freaky, huh?

I called the dealership to ask about this. They told me it would require replacing the entire unit - $$$$. Then, as I came to a stop to turn into preschool, the needle moved down to 75!!

I like this one. It looks like I'm terrorizing the Chick-fil-a parking lot at 75 mph! I'm not sure how long I can drive like this. It's bad enough not knowing my speed, but then I burst out into spontaneous laughter in various situations as I notice the inappropriateness of the speedometer reading (school zone at 90, neighborhood at 110, going up the driveway at 85). I think I need to check it when it's in reverse, a la Ferris Bueller.

I'm reminded of the time I had the speedometer calibrated. Since the children were little, the mechanic told us we could stay in the car when he tested it. My sweet babies sat in their carseats while he put us on the rollers and gunned it. We were sitting still.

So until further notice, think of me when you hear Sammy. I'll let you know if I get pulled over and ask the police officer to write me up for 125.

A cheaper alternative to a new car or dashboard would be a GPS with a MPH reading, ours is really old and it tells us, not only where we are and the direction we're heading, it tells how fast too! It would probably take a while to get used to be it would save some cash!

As long as you don't lose your license...because then you really can't drive.

This was too funny. I laughed and then made Neal read it while I laughed reading it over his shoulder.

That is crazy!! Do you just pick someone on the road who looks like a law abiding citizen and match speeds? Too funny!
