One minute you're cozily laughing about how "Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday" couldn't be any funnier as possible foreshadowing. The next, you're breaking up a dogfight and taking sweet, gentle, elderly, already-weak-in-one-leg Max for emergency surgery.
The canine bad citizen bullies (two of them!) who jumped Max just before Randy could catch up with him had a numbers advantage, as well as a home field advantage, since they frequent the neutral territory yard where the fracas took place.
It's kind of like when any of North Carolina's ACC teams are scheduled to play an NCAA game in Greensboro.
I regret possibly making the vet assistant uncomfortable when he witnessed my bawling meltdown in the parking lot, but appreciate his sympathetic response. I must not have sufficiently followed the vet's instructions to "prepare myself for the significant trauma he experienced." I hope our neighbor has prepared himself for the significant bill he will be receiving.
Y'all already know how much I love giving medicine to pets. It's going to be a long week.

Oh hon...it's no fun seeing your pets in pain. Don't you wish the vet could issue you a prescription at the same time as your pet?
Oh, I am SO sorry, for you & for Max! He is so sweet & it is just so hard to see our beloved pets hurt. I hope he has a swift recovery.
So sorry. Your doggie looks so sad with the cone around his neck. Hope he's feeling better soon.
