I'm not sure what to do about spiffing up this desk in my foyer. My sweet friend, Jen, hosted our Bible study group at her home recently, and I expressed surprise that she had all kinds of pretty doo-dads decorating her tabletops. She has 4 year old twins.
Not long after this conversation, I happened to witness (and photograph) a fine example of why I have such minimally decorated surfaces.
She moved the books, added the lego, then walked away.

I found you through carpoolqueen's blog. I was reading some of your older posts and this made me laugh, because my daughter also has the "interior decorating" gene. Every time I try to make a cute little area she comes and adds her own special "touch." That often involves stuffed animals and Kleenex "flowers" which are basically just wadded up tissues. I still don't know what she did with all the tea lights that she took out of my little holders and replaced with her own "decorations." I hate always taking her stuff down because she takes it very personally! I figure we can have Southern Living homes when they're grown, right?
