Yarn Bargain

I popped in a thrift shop after dropping the children off for school last week and finally found some good yarn! I've heard urban legends about 100% wool to be found in thrift shops, but have never even come close until now. I found this Reynolds Lopi (great for felting) on the regular shelves, then as I was checking out the cashier told me that she had more yarn in a shopping cart with other stock that she was getting ready to put out. The funny part: I wasn't allowed to reach into the cart to get it. Her manager was nearby, and there is a strict rule about customers rifling through the stock cart. She had to reach in the cart to get all of the yarn out while I watched and stood right next to her. In fact, before she explained this I thought she was going to slap my hand when I tried to help her get the yarn out of the cart. ("Stop! You can't do that! NO, STOP!") Maybe helping a customer buy merchandise is an offense worthy of termination?

The tally?
8 balls Baruffa Maratona .39/ea.
2 balls Anny Blatt No5 .39/ea.
7 skeins Reynolds Lopi .59 and .99/ea.

I left more of the Maratona in black. I really should have picked some up, though, since it would be nice with the tan (tipped collar, etc.), and it's a lovely yarn. At the time I was concerned about knitting a whole project in solid black, since it's more difficult to see the stitches and would attract all of the dog and cat hair in the house. Note to self, for this price, next time just buy it!

Like Carrie, I am happy to share how much I pay for my bargains, and I love hearing about everyone else's finds!
